Interior Design Sense

Wednesday 22, December 2010

Whatever type of home you live in, whether it is permanent or temporary, and whether it is a castle in Cheshire or a furnished apartment Sydney, you will no doubt want to leave your design mark, your stamp of personality.

Many people rush into this and spend vast sums on things that will become dated quite quickly. They choose something which they think suits their sense of style before realising that, actually, this is not how they want other people to see them at all.

They then have to set about getting rid of what they loved so much just a very short time ago and starting again from scratch. The key is to look objectively at the house or apartment and don't rush into things.

It is easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment and buy something totally unsuitable and which is totally not within your budget. We hav (read on)

What The Corporate Expects

Monday 20, December 2010

An interesting article I came across online over the weekend just past ..............................

"Some companies are decidedly more generous than others when it comes to paying business expenses. Some companies will put you up in the top hotels or corporate apartment Sydney, whereas others seem to have difficulty putting their hand into their pocket for the most meagre of hotels.

Most companies set a limit on how much can be spent per day on food and drink, and some are pretty generous, allowing entertainment expenses and wine with dinner; whereas others raise their eyebrows if you have an extra coke with your hamburger.

Travel too can differ widely, as most companies realise that to work at your best potential, you should have a fairly comfortable flight and they are willing to pay for busi (read on)

Sydney and a Sense of Humour.

Tuesday 14, December 2010
A lot of Sydney residents feel that while the city pursues fine arts, political correctness and economic splendor, some of the most important aspects of Australian life are being cast aside. Namely, that famous Australian sense of humour.

Australia is known for its laid back attitude, that willingness to approach every situation, however frightening, threatening or dangerous, as if it's just plain no big deal. It's the attitude that Crocodile Dundee made famous around the world. Even what we might call "serious Australian entertainment" like The Road Warrior still manages to find roles for comic actors like Bruce Spence.

So is Sydney losing its sense of humour, its real Australian character? The truth is that it really depends on who (read on)

The Ashes 2010/2011

Thursday 18, November 2010
The English are leaving their home land to once again attempt to conquer the Land Down Under. It's once again time for The Ashes as England travels to Australia for the biennial meeting of the two cricket powerhouses. And as always, it promises to be a bitter fight between these two old foes.

The Ashes has a long and colourful history. First played in 1882, this Test cricket series got its gaudy moniker after upstart Australia stunned England in the first tournament. The English media published a satirical obituary for the team, mourning the death of English cricket and stating that "the body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia." The next tournament was coined as "The Quest to regain The Ashes." Following this theme, a group of Australian women even presented the E (read on)

Find a Home from Home in Sydney

Thursday 28, October 2010

If you have to travel to Sydney on business, your choice of accommodation will be something that you will need to think about carefully. Many business people choose 3, 4 or even 5-star hotels and are perfectly happy with this arrangement. It means that they can come and go as they please and order a meal in the restaurant or though room service.

Other business people, though, prefer a more flexible option - furnished apartments Sydney. These are apartments which are rented out either on a long term or short term basis, to people who are looking for that little extra flexibility than a hotel can offer.

Some of the benefits of furnished apartments are that they are far more spacious than a hotel bedroom, as they usually have a separate lounge and even dining area. They also have fully equipped kitchens, so that you can rustle up some (read on)

A Glorious Season for us Europeans

Monday 25, October 2010

If Sydney is on your short-list of cities to visit, you may want to consider spending the summer in Sydney - for many reasons!

Sydney is known as one of the world famous iconic surfing destinations. People of all ages flock to Bondi Beach. For those already experienced in surfing, you can get straight on down there - but for the newcomers or those who have never tried it before you can take lessons.

But the sea is not all about surfing and many of the beaches around Sydney are perfect for the smaller dudes - the waves are gentler and perfectly safe for the kids.

The great attraction for us is that Christmas is celebrated in the summer so you could in theory be tucking into your Christmas turkey on the beach or by the pool side! Something t (read on)

What Makes a Good Travel Blog Site?

Wednesday 13, October 2010
What makes one travel blog site better than another is often a matter of personal opinion. But in general, the best ones have a few things in common.

A well-designed travel blog site knows its niche, the kind of audience it wants to engage. The home page is uncluttered and structured in a sensible way. There is no confusion about where to click, and you get to the information you're looking for in the quickest way possible.

The best site will have several features that aid in trip planning, such as itineraries, lodging options, flight and motel reservation links, and "top 10 things to do" type lists. Photos, travel tips, and destination spotlights whet the traveller's appetite and confirm -- or not -- the desire to visit a particular place. Honest, well-written blogs posted by seasoned trav (read on)

Headline News Is Simply Celebrity News

Saturday 02, October 2010
Today headline news is simply celebrity news. Lindsay Lohan is back in jail or Paris Hilton has been arrested on drug charges, yet again. The public laps up this news as it hits both the airwaves and computers.

What are we not being told? One thing we are not being told is how business conglomerates such as Disney, FOX, and Time Warner Cable now own the major news outlets. The news no longer exists to keep us informed, the news exists to make money. Relevant news is pulled in favor of celebrity gossip.

What happened to the investigative journalists of the past? Journalists who have high ethics when it comes to the news are being silenced. They have been bound and gagged by FOX and Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch is referred to as a "media mogul." Why are we allowing big corporations and the owners of such to silence our reporters? Hav (read on)

Australia NRL Finals 2010

Wednesday 22, September 2010

With this year's NRL finals series as open as it's ever been, excitement from fans is at an all time high. The Canberra Raiders played in front of their largest home crowd since 1994, so it shows the crowds are up on last year.

The Raiders were the story of the year, winning 9 from 10 matches to storm into the finals. Unfortunately, a serious injury to Terry Campese let the Tigers off the hook, who will now face the Dragons in the 1st Preliminary final on Saturday night at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park.

The Dragons are looking very strong and should have too much for the Tigers. Many of the Tigers players are carrying injuries, whereas the Dragons have had the week off to recharge and get ready.

On the other side of the draw, Penrith were disappointing in both their matches. Inj (read on)
